BrewCap: Sundays Aren’t for the Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers absolutely stink on Sundays. They’re 4-12 on Sundays. It might be the best gambling edge that this Brewers team has to offer right now. That and they’re very good in night games this season. Brewers fell again on Sunday with an 8-5 loss to San Francisco. Milwaukee still takes three of four in the series which admirable for the team, and a good start on their West Coast road trip. It’s too bad Junior Guerra and Matt Albers didn’t have it. Brewers getting five runs at AT&T Park usually gets the job done for a victory.
Player of the Game: Buster Posey – To me, I feel like we need to put Posey in the Mount Rushmore Hall of Fame of Brewers Killers. That might be a podcast topic at a later date before football season (Shouts to Pardon My Take). Posey goes 4-for-5 with four RBIs including a bases-clearing RBI double that turned the tide in this game. Posey might not be the player he’s been in years past, but the dude can still be a monster at the plate.
Silver Star: Pablo Sandoval – I can’t fucking believe that I’m writing up Pablo Sandoval in 2018 but here we are. Albers put runners on and the Kung Fu Panda knocked two runners in then got driven in on a sacrifice fly. He changed the outcome of this game. If the Brewers held their water, it would have been a tied game and who knows what happens from there.
Honorable Mention: Host of Brewers – There’s no one who really stood out in yesterdays game. Christian Yelich had two hits. Travis Shaw knocked in a pinch-hit home run. Ryan Braun also hit a home run, and Orlando Arica got himself on base twice. Taylor Williams getting himself out of trouble was nothing sort of amazing in the eighth inning.
Next up: Brewers head to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers. I would not be surprised if we see a different pitcher than Freddy Peralta go for the Brewers. If he does pitch tonight, it could be his last stand. It’s going to be a challenge. Kenta Maeda goes for Los Angeles. Maeda has been very good this season and pitches well at home.
