Drake – Annoying Superfan or Passionate Fan?
Milwaukee Bucks lost their second straight game to the Toronto Raptors. It was not a fun game. In fact, I would rather stick needles in my dick than watch that game again. One of the more annoying parts of the evening was Drake, the world famous hip-hop artist, celebrating like he was the 13th man of the Raptors. People are calling him this generation’s Spike Lee which is fair in my opinion. People wavered back and forth on how they feel about Drake. Some people believe him to be annoying and tiresome and wanting to make sure the cameras are on him. Others think that Drake is a great fan and ambassador plus his celebrity means he can do whatever he wants on the court. Let’s make an argument for both then you can decide.
He tries so hard to be an athlete
Drake loves to be seen with athletes. It almost matters to him more than being with attractive women. He likes the idea of athletes loving him and wanting to be around him. That matters to Drake. Not sure it matters to anyone else. Therefore, Drake believes himself to be the 13th man of the team and be all over the court including giving head coach Nick Nurse shoulder rubs. It is obnoxious. He can roam all over the front row without any sort of warning. He is not a normal fan, yet, there still should be rules around this type of practice. What gives Drake the right to be all over the sideline? Because he makes good music? Get the fuck out of here.
He is a diehard sports fan and we should appreciate that in a celebrity
When celebrities watch sports, they’re usually very vanilla. They do not want to show off their emotions and would rather watch the game like they hope the guys on the court would do for their sport. Drake takes it to another level. He wants to make sure that it is known that his passion is more like any fan on the street and makes him relatable. Would Bucks fans be freaking out if Aaron Rodgers showed this kind of emotion at a Bucks game? They’re different people but folks would eat it up.
While I admire Drake’s passion, I cannot get over the ‘Look at me, I love sports’ attitude that Drake carries with himself. That’s the problem right there. He wants to do it for the camera more than the team. Sure, he’s a big fan but wants you to know that every time he is in an arena. Since he doesn’t perform in Milwaukee, it will be nice to actually have him here for Game 5.
