Graham Mertz Locks in Wisconsin
What a day for Wisconsin Badgers football. Graham Mertz, their biggest and best quarterback prospect in Badgers history, officially shut down his recruitment and will be going to Wisconsin next season. Mertz became a big deal over the last few months as he continued to impress at quarterback camps and other showcases around the nation. The kid from Kansas received offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame to name a few. He truly could have went anywhere in the country, and he’s going to Wisconsin. This is uncharted waters for Wisconsin locking in a huge recruit for the future of this program.

First off all, this is an incredibly big move by Mertz. He basically writes here that ‘enough is enough’, and the focus goes on the state title in Kansas. Mertz also mentions bringing a ‘natty’ to Madison. He’s going to be a massive help in recruiting the 2019 class. That’s such an asset. While there will be IMMENSE pressure on him when he comes to Wisconsin, he’ll have a year of being the back-up to senior quarterback Alex Hornibrook. The reigns will not get passed over until 2020 barring injury. Trust me, this is a blog site that believes Hornibrook will be very good next season, and Wisconsin’s passing attack will never be better. It starts with him, and Mertz will only continue that when he takes over.
Paul Chryst and his staff deserve a ton of credit too. They made sure that he did not slip through the cracks. Other players jumped to an Ohio State in the past, and honestly, it’s okay. People can change their minds. But Wisconsin did enough through their staff to show Mertz why he could be the face of this university for the next half decade.
