How to Solve Batting Issues Yelich Style: Chew Gum
Christian Yelich had a rough start to his Friday evening. He had two strikeouts against Alec Mills, the young Chicago Cubs pitcher. This wasn’t a big deal because Yelich is playing better of late. He turned it around after a rough start to the season. Yelich wasn’t having it though. He called his at-bats ‘shitty’ after the game then found a way to wash away those bad at-bats… Chewing gum. The gum made him not think about the at-bats and then he did this to a baseball…

Brewers’ manager had a great comment about Yelich using bubble gum to solve his problems too.
On chewing gum making the difference for Christian Yelich, #Brewers manager Craig Counsell said, "Well, this is a high-tech organization, guys. Guys are coming up with some new and innovative methods." No word on what the analytics department had on Yelich's chew rate.

If I’m part of the marketing team for Orbit, Eclipse, BubbleYum, or any other gum company not named Zebra Gum (We all know that is trash gum and if you like it, you should be ashamed of yourself), I’m hooking up Yelich immediately. This is a no-brainer marketing deal. It should be a layup. My guess is Wrigley and their gums will not be the ones that are hooking up the marketing deals though.
