Lakers Losing Three Straight Should Give Bucks’ Fans a Little Comfort
Los Angeles Lakers are the latest team to go through a losing streak. The Lakers have now dropped three straight after their shocking loss to the Washington Wizards last night. The Wizards are red hot, but still, there is no excuse for blowing a 17-point second-half lead. That is what the Lakers did last night. Los Angeles’ three losses have all come at home. All come against the supposedly terrible Eastern Conference. Yes, they’re missing Anthony Davis and Dennis Schroder currently, but the same thing could have been said for the Milwaukee Bucks. While I’m not dancing on the Lakers’ grave for losing three straight, it gives me the perspective that it could happen to any team in the league.
Milwaukee’s losing streak bummed a lot of people out including me. And if Milwaukee were to drop tonight’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, that would be a step back and make six of their last eight. Three-game losing streaks happen from time to time, but if you look at what’s on tap for Los Angeles, it does not get any easier. Utah on the road Wednesday night (Sound familiar) then they play Portland and Golden State. Those are all tough opponents for Los Angeles with no real layups in the next week or so.
Part of me got a little doom and gloom about the losing streak for the Bucks because champions do not have that kind of losing streak. Seriously, they have not. Not one team in the last decade who won a title lost five straight games. But maybe this season is unlike other seasons. We need to throw out the records and understand that we’ll see things that are not normal. People will shrug off the Lakers’ losing streak because they’re already won a title, and with their extended time in the bubble, fatigue could be setting in. That’s okay. I’m not asking for the same treatment the Bucks got. In fact, Los Angeles deserves the excuses they won a title.
We’ll see if LeBron and the Lakers can bounce back Wednesday.
