Minnesota Miracle Felt Like a Packers Loss
Well, shit. Minnesota Vikings looked completely dead in the water. They were down by one point on their own 39 yard line, and it appeared like heartbreak showed up again for Vikings fans. Instead, the complete opposite happened as Case Keenum found Stefon Diggs and with a terrible play by Marcus Williams, he got loose for a touchdown. I’m sick to my stomach. It feels like the Packers lost this game, not the New Orleans Saints. It took me until just recently to watch some reaction videos and hear Paul Allen’s call.

It’s hard to believe I witnessed an NFL game end like that. Hail Mary’s are one thing, but a complete unexpected throw to the sidelines is another. This was one of the best football games I’ve watched in quite some time. A complete classic, perfect call from Joe Buck and one where you’re glad you don’t cheer for either team yet Saints losing felt like the typical Packer gutpunch. Keenum and Diggs will be etched in Minnesota lore no matter how this season winds up for them. Williams will be the scapegoat for a little while, but he’s a talented rookie with a bright future ahead of him. You hope this is a low point of a successful career.
The hype around the Vikings this week will be insufferable. I’m not sure I’ll be well by Friday. My hope was for Minnesota to lose this game right away, and we could all have a happy playoffs. Instead, it’s going to be about the Vikings being the team of destiny to make it back to Minneapolis for the Super Bowl. This sucks. I’m going to try and explain why this feels different for Packers fans this week. It’s brewing in the lab, but collectively will now root for the Eagles. Fly Eagles Fly.
