Pour One Out For Rich Hill’s Masterpiece
Rich Hill might be cursed by the baseball gods. He’s been a strong pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers over the last couple years, and for the second straight year, destiny shut him down at the last minute. Last year, Hill got denied a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth against Miami Marlins. This year, he gets through nine no-hit innings, but with no runs scored, Dodgers kept playing. He tried coming out for the 10th only to suffer a Josh Harrison walkoff winner. That’s such shitty luck.
Hill had a perfect game into the ninth inning when Logan Forsthye booted a ball at third base. That has to be such a low feeling for him. Chase Utley makes this amazing catch, and you have Forsthye with hammers for hands trying to field that baseball. If that wasn’t bad enough, he gives up the home run in the 10th. Brutal. It’s hard to really feel sorry for a Dodger player considering how good they’ve been, but the heart aches for Hill.
While it’s admirable to see Dave Roberts let Hill pitch the 10th, that probably wasn’t the best idea for an old pitcher who has blister issues on a regular basis. Hopefully for Los Angeles’ sake, this will not end up poorly for the Dodgers lefty his next time on the mound.
