Pro Football Focus Expects Big Things From A.J. Dillon

Are you getting on board the A.J. Dillon hype train? Right now, the train that I’m riding is the Jace Sternberger hype train but might have to a share in Dillon’s as well. Dillon is looking like a freak with five percent body fat and seemingly ready to be an NFL player. It is probably unlikely that he will win Rookie of the Year considering the number of snaps he will get to other rookies. But Dillon is going to be a playmaker for the Packers. The first cold-weather game where Dillon ices the victory will have every single hater shut their mouth about the pick. Pro Football Focus expects big things too. They rated Dillon the second-best projected running back behind the Buffalo Bills’ Zack Moss. Dillon may have that type of year.
Highest-graded NFL rookie RBs:
1. Zack Moss – 91.3
1. A.J. Dillon – 91.3
3. Jonathan Taylor – 91.1
4. Clyde Edwards-Helaire – 85.0 pic.twitter.com/uMaYk8xDdb— PFF College (@PFF_College) June 14, 2020
There will be talks of Aaron Jones getting phased out which could not be further from the truth. It is more about Jamaal Williams’ snaps. Green Bay will likely not use Williams as much. It is also possible to free up some more money that Green Bay tries to trade Williams or he is released before the season starts. Remember, the Packers also have Tyler Ervin on their roster. Dillon and Jones are going to be a thunder and lighting duo. Matt LaFleur did not use Jones and Williams in the game at the same time enough, but that needs to change with Dillon and Jones.
Pro Football Focus is a tool that should be considered what it is, a tool. It is not the Bible nor is it meaningless. We should take it with consideration. Mitchell Schwartz of the Kansas City Chiefs explained it to The Ringer’s Ryen Russillo perfectly. Schwartz said ‘It is a tool that you like when it likes you and when it doesn’t you get mad at it.’ That can be applied to most fan bases. PFF being on the Dillon bandwagon is a fun one though.
