Travis Shaw’s Injury Should Only Increase the Ryan Braun Return Rumors
Travis Shaw suffered a brutal injury on Wednesday night. Shaw dislocated his shoulder. That is a type of injury playing third base that will need a twon of time to heal. He is likely going to be out for most of the season. It is the Brewers’ first significant long-term injury on their roster. Shaw is also a great clubhouse guy. While he should be back in the clubhouse soon, the presence will be missed for certain. Where do the Brewers go at third base? Well, the answer could be Ryan Braun. Not a third base obviously, we’ve done that. But playing first base in a platoon with Dan Vogelbach and Luis Urias playing mostly third. Braun seems like he may be getting ready for a return.

Brewers should try to work on one final swan song for Braunie. The stadium will be full as of June 25th. If they can talk Braun into a final return, that would be amazing. But also it would be practical. Braun would get ample starting time as the first baseman when the Brewers are facing off against left-handed hitters. Braun still had some gas left in the tank. This isn’t like bringing back some guy who already shown he’s done. I’m not ready to say Braun is done. Limited at-bats plus serving as a coach in the clubhouse would be excellent for the Brewers.
Will Braun come back? I think so. He seemed bothered by the COVID-19 protocols, the empty stadiums, and all the things of 2020. By June 25th, things will be normal at his home, American Family Field. It is now time for Braun to come home one last time.
