Weeks, Fielder, Cain & Others Tip Cap To Negro Leagues’ 100th Anniversary

Yesterday, the Negro League celebrated their 100th anniversary. And they did a great thing with ‘Tip Your Cap’ a masterful social media campaign. This is seriously one of the best-coordinated things I’ve seen in a while. There is so much bad on social media, no matter the platform, that it was nice to see something so genuine and sweet with the tributes to the Negro Leagues. People like Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey Jr., Michael Jordan, four presidents, and many others paid tribute to the Negro Leagues. Milwaukee Brewers got involved too. Past and present players were featured as Rickie Weeks, Prince Fielder, Lorenzo Cain, and Brandon Woodruff all paid tribute.

Hope there is an opportunity in the future where Weeks can return to Milwaukee. He hasn’t done much with the Brewers since retiring from the game of baseball, and I would love to see him back with the organization. I also loved Fielder rocking the Milwaukee Bears kit for his video. That’s great and brings back memories seeing Prince suited up. Again, kudos to everyone at the Negro Leagues that put this together. It was truly special.
Charlie.
