Why Did People Think Packers Fans Wanted To Relive a Loss to Favre?
ESPN is playing Monday Night Football classics on Monday to give sports fans an itch to scratch. I haven’t taken part in any of the Monday Night Football classics. Part of me wants to say ‘Call me when Brett Favre throws a touchdown pass in overtime to Greg Jennings.’ ESPN did feature the Packers last night but it was in a losing effort. Their first game against Brett Favre in the Metrodome. That game sucked for Packers fans. Yet many members in the media wanted us all to head back to 2009. Why they did that? I’m not sure.
Look I get for ESPN Milwaukee, they’re promoting the ESPN brand and driving the company line. That’s what you have to do and it’s being a good partner. Still, this is a situation where you read the room. 105.7 The Fan ran a poll asking people if they’re watching this game last night, and the poll was 90/10. Trust me, many Packers do not want to go back in time and remember when we despised Brett Favre for playing on the Vikings. That was a dark time in 2009. Rodgers thankfully rose like a phoenix a year later.
There are so many things I would rather do than watch the Vikings beat the Packers. Here are a few of them… Stick needles directly in my dick, pick up my dog’s shit for countless hours, sit outside naked in 20-degree weather for multiple hours, drink an entire case of Bud Light. Living in the past for frustrating losses is not something that I ever want to do. Could it have been a content opportunity for SnoTapWI? Maybe, but that’s something we’ve done at all this quarantine season.
Let’s hope we get some Packers wins in these batch of classics to talk about in the near future.
